Colonel Roy Levy Wiki – Colonel Roy Levy Biography
Colonel Roy Levy, 44, was the leader of the Multidimensional Unit, a secret group of commandos established to confront Hamas using drones and other modern warfare techniques. He died as his forces fought Hamas fighters in the community of Re’im, near the Gaza border, where some 260 festival-goers were killed when violence broke out on Saturday. The Israel Defense Forces said Levy ‘bravely led his team, confronted [the terrorists] and entered the battle first at Kibbutz Re’im, to save citizens who were besieged in their homes. Around 10 Palestinian terrorists were killed during Saturday’s battle, the Israeli military said. He added in his statement about Levy’s death that he “shares the family’s pain.” The Ghost unit, officially Unit 888 ‘Refaim’, was established in 2019 and is said to be involved in secret reconnaissance missions to eradicate Hamas.
Colonel Levy is among dozens of soldiers now confirmed to have died in the violence, and Hamas claims that his fighters are still present in Israel. A British-born soldier was revealed as one of the first to lose his life after the conflict escalated on Saturday. Nathanel Young, from London, was serving in the 13th Battalion of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) when he was killed yesterday, according to the IDF. His heartbroken family paid tribute to his son, who was “the life of the party”. The IDF is publishing all the names of the dead soldiers after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country was on a “war footing.” The Israeli government formally declared war on Sunday and gave the green light to “significant military measures” to retaliate against Hamas for its surprise attack.

Investigation Report
The statement came as the army sought to crush fighters still in southern cities and intensified its bombardment of the Gaza Strip. The number of victims exceeded 1,000 dead and thousands injured on both sides. More than 24 hours after Hamas launched its unprecedented incursion out of Gaza, Israeli forces were still trying to defeat the last groups of militants hiding in several cities. At least 700 people have reportedly been killed in Israel, a staggering toll on a scale the country has not experienced in decades, and more than 300 have died in Gaza as Israeli airstrikes hit the territory. Israel’s Zaka rescue service said its paramedics removed about 260 bodies from a music festival attended by thousands of people who were attacked. The total number is expected to be higher as other paramedic teams were working in the area. Videos on social media and in Israeli media showed dozens of festival-goers running across an open field as gunshots rang out. Many hid in nearby fruit orchards or were shot dead while fleeing. The declaration of war foreshadowed greater fighting to come, and a major question was whether Israel would launch a ground attack on Gaza, a move that has led to intensifying casualties in the past.
