Charlie was the daughter of Fred Keck and Jessie Kingsley Keck. Charlie married Leo H. Bridges on December 11, 1948. Charlie and Leo had four children from that marriage. DeWayne, Deborah, Dawna, and Douglas Bridges. Charlie was also instrumental in raising David Bridges, her stepson who she considered to be her mother. Charlie worked for Scavuzzo’s Grocery as a cashier for a total of 42 years. She retired in 1998 at the age of 70 and within a month decided that her retirement was not for her yet. She returned to work at Scavuzzo’s for a few more years, mostly part-time.
After graduating from high school, she worked at a meatpacking plant in Topeka and was a pitcher for the Topeka DX Oilers, a semi-pro softball team. At a time in her life when her parents needed her help because of her father’s declining health, she moved her family to Colorado, and, while living there, she started driving a school bus. She entered what was considered a competitive school bus-driving rodeo, where she placed first in all divisions. She was always a great competitor. Charlie loved to travel, especially by car, since she never wanted to miss anything and she loved spending time with her family. She could always be counted on with large family gatherings at her house for every holiday and celebration, where she always provided plenty of delicious food for everyone.
Charleene ‘Charlie’ Bridges Bradley was 93 years old.
She passed away on December 1, 2022. All friends and relatives are requested for his forgiveness.
Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Evergreen Colorado.
