The family of Casey Rivara killed while helping ducks to cross the street, praised him for his “final act of kindness.”
Casey Rivara’s mourning family identified him as the guy seen assisting a family of ducks cross a busy road on May 18 before he was killed by a car driven by a 17-year-old driver. “Casey was the kindest, most amazing husband and father,” Casey’s aunt Tracey Rivara said on the GoFundMe page, which was confirmed. “Even his final act in this world demonstrated his compassion.” The family is attempting to figure out how to recover and go forward after such a tragic loss.”
Rivara died in the city of Rocklin shortly after 8 p.m., when a witness told KCRA 3 that the man left his car to assist the ducks across traffic. “He got out of the car and started helping the ducks, and everyone was clapping because he was being nice,” William Wimsatt, 12, recalled. The adolescent stated the man was hit by a car that appeared out of nowhere shortly after the ducks made it safely to the other side of the street. “His shoes and one of his socks were right there in front of our car,” Wimsatt explained.
Tracey Rivara, who created the GoFundMe page “Casey’s Final Act of Kindness,” stated that Casey was taking his two children home from swim practice when he saw the ducks in need of help. He was hit while walking back to his car, according to a relative. He was recalled as a family man who fell “madly in love” with his wife Angel when they met when they were 17 years old, according to his relatives.

Father killed walking ducks across street remembered for ‘final act of kindness
She came to his high school as an exchange student from Hong Kong, and the two have “remained inseparable partners for the past 23 years,” according to the GoFundMe page. “We have been deeply touched by the overwhelming love and support we’ve received for Casey Rivara and our family in these past few days,” widow Angel Chow said in a statement after her 41-year-old husband died on Sunday night, according to NBC News.
“We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.” It’s very inspiring to read how Casey has influenced your life, and we’re glad for that.” He is survived by an 11-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. “His family was Casey’s world, and he had recently started working at their children’s school to stay even closer to them,” his aunt explained. “He loved working at the school because he was able to positively impact other children.”
Since it began a day ago, the fundraising has raised about $43,000.An impromptu memorial, complete with rubber duckies and flowers, was erected at the location of the tragedy. The driver is working with authorities and is not facing prosecution at this time. “We still have a lot of areas and evidence to sort through, but at first glance, it does not appear to be the case, Rocklin police Capt. Scott Horrillo told NBC News.
