Carissa MacDonald and Aaron Stone, a young engaged couple who resided in his building, were brutally murdered by a Canadian landlord on Saturday before he was fatally shot by police.
According to Hamilton police, the 57-year-old fatally shot renters Carissa MacDonald and Aaron Stone outside a home in Stoney Creek, Ontario, on Saturday evening. Both MacDonald, 27, and Stone, 28, were already dead when authorities arrived at 322 Jones Road around 5:40 p.m., according to officials.
According to CBC News, the couple was “fleeing the residence” when they were shot, according to Hamilton Det. Sgt. Young Ontario couple killed by landlord over tenancy
“We spent considerable time last night on the phone in attempts to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the male suspect,” Bereziuk told the local outlet. Instead, around 10 p.m., the suspect opened fire on an armored police vehicle before shooting multiple times at cops on the scene, according to Hamilton police. Officers returned fire, striking him, and he died at the scene. The Special Investigations Unit of Ontario is investigating the shooting, as is customary in police-involved shootings.
