Bruce Davis, a Florida man who broke into a home Sunday hid in a pile of construction insulation before officers arrested him. Bruce Davis allegedly broke into a home in North Fort Myers in a residential burglary attempt and was still inside the property when deputies arrived on the scene, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said. The sheriff joked that Davis was “stuck in a difficult situation” in a news release about the encounter. The would-be burglar climbed into the home’s attic and buried himself under the insulation that he chipped at while officers searched the home.

The sheriff’s office shared a photo of the remains of insulation with two hands sticking out. Another photo shows Davis standing with white insulation residue covering his clothing, hair and beard. Davis reportedly pressed his face against the air duct system in the attic to breathe fresh air while he was buried, according to the sheriff’s report. He points to the attic and the remains of insulation on the floor.
They demanded the suspect come down from the attic and deployed non-lethal gas to force him out, but Davis refused to move, the sheriff said. Agents and a K-9 unit entered the attic and found him hiding under the insulation. They arrested him for robbery and resisting an officer. Officers also found appliances in use, tools scattered throughout the home and a broken window, the sheriff said.Davis, who has a lengthy criminal record that includes robbery and drug charges, was booked into the Lee County Jail.
