Hazel Huggins was discovered at her home on Ilbert Street around 4:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon after police were called to the property following reports of concern for a woman’s well-being. Officers forced entry into the home and emergency first aid was carried out, but the 53-year-old man was confirmed to have died at the scene. Bradley Huggins, 24, also of Ilbert Street, Plymouth, has been charged with murder and appeared before Plymouth Magistrates Court today. The case will be heard tomorrow at Plymouth Crown Court for a bail application.

In a statement, Ms. Huggins’ family paid tribute to her as a “shining light” who was loved by many. “The family is grieving the loss of her and asks that her privacy be respected at this time,” they added. A police statement issued this morning said: ‘Detectives have charged a man with murder in connection with the death of a woman in Plymouth over the weekend. Officers were called to a property on Ilbert Street around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, following reports of concern for the well-being of a woman. Units forced entry to the address and emergency first aid was carried out, but Hazel Huggins, 53, was confirmed to have died at the scene. ‘Bradley Huggins, 24, of Ilbert Street, Plymouth, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates Court today, Monday 31 July.’ It is believed that they knew each other,” police added. The relationship between the victim and the defendant was confirmed to MailOnline by Plymouth Magistrates Court.
