Billy Chemirmir Wiki – Billy Chemirmir Biography

Billy Chemirmir, 50, was convicted last year of killing two people but was charged with the deaths of nearly two dozen others. He was given two life sentences without parole. He was found dead early Tuesday morning in his cell. His cellmate, who is serving time for a Dallas-area murder, was identified as the attacker. The killer’s name was not revealed. During multiple trials, prosecutors alleged that Chemirmir, a suspected serial killer, targeted people inside their homes or in nursing homes. He often suffocated his victims with pillows to steal jewelry from them. The families of Chemirmir’s victims were notified of his death early Tuesday. Most of the killer’s victims were initially believed to have died of natural causes, despite family members claiming that the circumstances of their deaths were strange and that they had been robbed. However, it was not until a victim survived an attack that authorities reopened the cases and charges were brought against Chemirmir.

Man accused in deaths of 18 elderly women in Texas killed in prison

He was eventually charged with killing 22 North Texas women over two years. He was convicted of capital murder last October in the death of 87-year-old Mary Brooks. In April 2022, he was found guilty of the same charge for the murder of 81-year-old Lu Thi Harris. Her first trial for his death ended in a mistrial. Authorities did not say how Chemirmir was killed. He was killed at the Coffield Unit in Tennessee Colony, Texas, about two hours southeast of Dallas. His lawyer, Phillip Hayes, confirmed the murderer’s death in a statement: “Despite how you feel about him, no one deserves to be murdered in prison.” The Attorney General’s Office investigates the murder. Last month, the Collin County district attorney opted not to seek the death penalty in 11 of the pending cases against Chemirmir.

Authorities believe Chemirmir, who once worked as a caregiver for the elderly, began his killing spree in April 2016. According to court records, he was accused of killing at least three women in the exclusive Edgemere community of Dallas, and at least nine at The Tradition-Prestonwood, located on the northern edge of Dallas. He was finally arrested the day after an elderly woman, Mary Bartel, survived an attack at Plano’s Preston Place retirement community in March 2018 and proceeded to report her jewelry missing. Throughout his trials, Chemirmir maintained his innocence, repeatedly saying that he “was not a murderer” and that he was “not at all what they say I am.” ‘I am a very innocent person. I wasn’t raised that way. I grew up in a good family. I didn’t have any problems in my entire life.’ A month before his sentencing in April 2022, he said he was “100% sure” he would not go to prison.
