Bella Green Death: Tributes
“Bella leaves behind a large community of mourners whose lives were affected by everything she was and everything she created,” read a GoFundMe set up to cover Ms Green’s funeral and memorial arrangements. ‘I will always cherish my friendship with Bella. She was inspiring and I am so grateful that she has been a part of my life,” one tribute read. ‘Bella was an amazing person. I will miss how her mind works. And how kind and sweet she was,” said another. Your fierce independence gave me the courage to find my own,’ said a loved one. “The world just got a little duller, a little less bright,” wrote one. In her memoir, Ms. Green gave readers insight into her life, including growing up in a broken family. She was thrown out of home at 16, she has battled crippling depression and manic highs and lows, and she enjoyed love and lust with female and male partners. But her true passion, where she was “exactly meant to be”, was on stage, telling jokes. She first acquired a knack for comedy by telling jokes in brothels. Ms Green was nominated for Best Comedy at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2018 and won the award in Adelaide two years later. She once joked about her greatest achievement: remaining employable despite tattooing both of her hands.
