Police have arrested Begolea Mendes Fernandes suspected cannibal killer and are investigating whether the ‘suspicious meat’ found in his suitcase is the human remains of his alleged victim.

Suspected of killing Alan Lopes
He is suspected of killing a 21-year-old named Alan Lopes in the Dutch capital on Sunday. The contents of his luggage, which is said to include meat that detectives fear may be human, is now being analyzed at a specialized laboratory.
Dutch police have confirmed that Lopez was the victim of a “serious violent crime”. The Portuguese press has said that investigators suspect that the killer committed cannibalism.
The suspect detained at the Lisbon airport was on a layover on his way to board a flight to Belo Horizonte in his homeland of Brazil.
He is now under police arrest at the Hospital Santa Maria in the Portuguese capital and he is expected to be extradited to the Netherlands.
A spokesperson for Portugal’s Border and Immigration Service said: “A 26-year-old man suspected of murder in the Netherlands was arrested at Lisbon airport on Monday.
He ‘he was wearing bloody clothes and had a package containing pieces of meat. He was detained at the airport border control after the authorities became suspicious of the legality of the Italian identification card he presented.
“He was initially detained on suspicion that he was traveling with forged documents before it was later discovered that he was suspected of committing a homicide in the Netherlands the day before.”
The murder victim was found dead in the home he shared with relatives, including her mother and two of her sisters. The respected Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias reported that she may have been a victim of cannibalism.
A Dutch police spokesman said: “On Monday afternoon, a 25-year-old man was arrested at Lisbon airport in collaboration with the Portuguese authorities and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.
“The man is suspected of being involved in the death of a 21-year-old man who was found in a house on the Vegasstraat in the north of Amsterdam on the night of Sunday, February 26.”
