Andreas Probst, 64, died after he was deliberately hit while out for a morning bike ride at around 6am. on August 14, according to Las Vegas police. The unidentified 17-year-old driver of the Hyundai was arrested by police shortly after, The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The teenager has since been charged with murder, after police discovered a video posted on social media that allegedly showed him deliberately hitting the man. This weekend, shocking footage went viral online showing the driver asking his friends “are you ready?” while the passenger films, laughing. “Yes, hit him in the ass,” he tells the driver before attacking the retiree. The disturbing clip, reviewed by the Daily Mail, begins with passengers cursing at other cars as they speed by on North Tenaya Way, near West Centennial Parkway. The video shows the car approaching from behind a man dressed in red who was riding a bicycle on the side of the road.

With the support of his friends, the driver stops in the bike lane behind him, honks and deliberately crashes directly into his rear tire with a loud bang, sending the cyclist flying. The passenger films the man lying helpless on the side of the road behind the vehicle. “Damn, that black got knocked out!” says the passenger as the driver is heard stepping on the accelerator. Probst was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to the Review Journal. It is unclear whether the passenger who filmed the murder has been charged with a crime. The 17-year-old was arrested the same day as Probst’s death on suspicion of hit-and-run. He was later charged with murder because of the video, although the date the charges were set was unclear. The former cop had reportedly moved to Sin City after retiring as police chief in Bell, California in 2009. A memorial service was held earlier this month for Probst, who spent 35 years in law enforcement, KLAS reported. “Honestly, she was like a ray of sunshine,” Taylor Probst said of his father. “That just bled for your life.” “He was an incredible man, a husband,” added Probst’s wife Crystal. “A father, a brother.”
