Anas Abdulfatah, 36, allegedly assaulted a 52-year-old man outside the CBD in Fitzroy Gardens on Monday morning. The 52-year-old man was found seriously injured by emergency services at Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne’s CBD just before 7am on Monday, following reports of a physical altercation between two men. Paramedics tried to treat him but he died at the scene. The man regularly visited the park to feed the ducks. He was allegedly randomly attacked by Anas Abdulfatah, 36, accused of murder. Abdulfatah was taken to hospital following the alleged altercation before being arrested and charged. Abdulfatah is understood to be homeless.

Man charged over death of 52-year-old in Melbourne park
He did not appear during the administrative hearing in court on Tuesday because he was unwell, the Herald Sun reported. His defense explained that his absence was due to his mental health problems. No details about the alleged murder were revealed at the hearing. A 12-week reprieve was granted to the prosecution for the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine to prepare a report detailing the man’s cause of death. Police cordoned off an area of Fitzroy Gardens as they conducted their investigation following the alleged attack on Monday morning. An officer donned a wetsuit and searched a fountain in the park. Abdulfatah remained in custody. He will appear in court again on December 21. Homicide detectives want to speak to members of the public who may have witnessed the alleged altercation between Abdulfatah and the victim.
