De La Torre passed away from his wounds after the horrifying event
Hernandez eventually admitted to hitting and running over De La Torre, but claimed it felt like the car had simply struck “a bump.” De La Torre was laying on the road bleeding from his head when the others exited the car. When the police arrived on the scene, they saw De La Torre surrounded by relatives. Through sobs, Jimenez admitted to being the driver and smoking and drinking before the collision, according to a KLAS report at the time. According to police documents, Jimenez didn’t possess a driver’s license.
Four days after the horrifying event, De La Torre passed away from his wounds. Multiple blunt force injuries were reported as the cause of death, and the manner as accidental. Jimenez was accused of homicide by DUI, homicide by reckless driving, and homicide by driving while ineligible for a license.On March 29, police located Hernandez, who was wanted on felony charges for alleged child abuse and neglect, and she was taken into custody.
