Terror assault on Tel Aviv promenade leaves 1 Italian tourist dead and 7 others injured

Following the shooting in the occupied West Bank earlier on Friday that left two British-Israeli sisters dead and their mother injured, the attack occurred. According to Tel Aviv police, a 45-year-old man was driving a Kia along the city’s coastal boardwalk at 21:25 local time (19:25 BST) when he struck a number of pedestrians before flipping the vehicle on the Charles Clore Garden grass. According to reports, a policeman at a nearby gas station heard the noise and responded quickly to the situation. He arrived to find the car’s driver “trying to reach for what looked like a rifle-like object that was with him” and “neutralized him.”

According to the Israeli emergency service, there were eight overall casualties from the attack, all of them tourists aside from the alleged attacker. According to the report, three of those injured had significant injuries, while four only had light ones. Giorgia Meloni, the prime minister of Italy, expressed her “deep sorrow” on Mr. Parini’s passing and called the act “cowardly.” In Rome, Mr. Parini practiced law, according to Italian media. Following the event, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called up reserve officers from the army and police to help fight terrorism. Mr. Netanyahu has also been to the West Bank location of the shooting.

After the Israeli military launched airstrikes on Hamas sites in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, the attacks in the West Bank happened shortly afterward. The military claimed the attacks were in retaliation for a barrage of 34 rockets launched by the group on Thursday from Lebanon into northern Israel. Following two nights of Israeli police raids at the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam, earlier this week, tensions are rising. Anger spread throughout the region as a result of the raids, which led to violent clashes with Palestinians inside the mosque. The bombardment of rockets launched from Lebanon was the largest to occur in 17 years. While Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas, did not explicitly claim responsibility for the rocket attacks, he did declare that Palestinians would not “sit with their arms crossed” in the face of Israeli aggression. Haniyeh was in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, at the time.
