The actor is best known for playing Leonard Kone in the 2021 Netflix heist show ‘Lupin’. Since the tragic news broke, a series of tributes have been pouring in from far and wide, with co-star Omar Sy leading the charge in condolences. Sy’s tweet had been written in French and read: “I extend my deepest condolences to the loved ones of Adama Niane, a tremendous actor whom I had the opportunity and pleasure to play alongside. A man of rare benevolence… May his soul rest in peace.” Niane’s cause of death has not been revealed as of yet.

Niane was last seen in the television series ‘L’lle aux 30 Cercueils’ (The Island of 30 Coffins), in which he played the role of Yannick Lantry. However, his portrayal of the murderer and ex-con Leonard Kone in ‘Lupin’ brought him international fame. The character is based on Maurice Leblanc’s novels, written over a century ago.
